As is widely accepted, one of the great medical challenges of the 21st century is the fight against cancer. Professor Ronit Saatchi-Fienro is considered one of the most influential cancer researchers in Israel and globally. One of her core beliefs is that drugs can be combined in the treatment of brain tumours. Through her groundbreaking research, she has developed nanomedicines and immunotherapy to prevent brain metastases. Among other examples, she has also published pioneering research in the development of a nano-vaccine for melanoma.
The Foundation is proud to support the work of Professor Ronit Saatchi-Fienro. Aside from the obvious importance of oncology in today’s world, The Foundation also celebrates female leadership in circles that have traditionally been reserved for males.
Professor Sacchi-Fienro completed her PhD in Pharmacy at the University of London and went on to undertake her doctoral research at Harvard Medical School. Today she serves as a full-time professor and head of the department of physiology and pharmacology at the Tel Aviv University School of Medicine. The Foundation’s support of Professor Sacchi-Fienro also demonstrates the importance placed on innovation coming out of Israel and its recognition on the global stage.
