The Idan and Batia Ofer Family Foundation has supported this visionary project since its inception in 2006. What began with just five schools has now grown to over 250 schools in 50 towns, reaching approximately 110,000 students, teachers, and school principals. The initiative delivers digital innovation in education through a holistic approach, tailoring its solution to meet the needs of each selected community through its four-step methodology:

A comprehensive assessment of existing digital infrastructure.

Thorough training for all users, eliminating digital hesitancy that often accompanies new technologies.

The first school to participate in the initiative was Kol Yaakov School in the southern town of Yeruham. Its principal, Yona Kanino, who has led the school for nearly two decades, saw a unique opportunity in the initiative—driven by a belief in progress and leadership, and a commitment to bridging gaps and creating equal opportunities. For Kanino, the heart of education lies in fostering a sense of belonging among students. Her school serves a diverse student body, including both gifted students and those with learning disabilities. The impact of the program is reflected in its ability to personalize learning experiences and eliminate barriers that hinder student growth.

Naturally, there were initial concerns among Kanino and her staff about stepping into unfamiliar digital territory. However, the program’s comprehensive support system eased those concerns. The initiative provides assistance not just to students, but also to teachers and parents, ensuring that everyone adapts comfortably to the digital learning landscape. One of its key features is its end-to-end digital solution, equipping schools with the necessary tools for digital literacy. Students can access the platform from any device, logging into a secure private cloud where they find personal academic information, assignments, messages, grades, and more. Additionally, Office apps and email services are available free of charge from anywhere. The system even extends beyond the classroom, offering extracurricular activities, summer camps, and holiday programming—supporting students from the start to the end of their day.

The impact of “A Password for Every Student” is felt across all participating schools. Kol Yaakov School, which started the program with just 130 students, today proudly serves around 800 students. Its alumni go on to prestigious university programs, serve in key roles in the Israel Defense Forces, and work in leading companies. The program’s influence even resonates intergenerationally, as former students, now parents themselves, entrust their children to the school, confident in its ability to help them reach their full potential.
